Questa targa ricorda la partenza per la guerra, il 2 (o 4?) agosto 1914 , della prima brigata di cacciatori a cavallo.

Durante gli eventi del settembre 1830, a Tournai si formò un'unità di cavalleria, chiamata “Inheemse Korps” o “Tirailleurs du Petit-Château”, composta da disertori dell'esercito olandese. Il 1° ottobre dello stesso anno venne rinominata “Compagnie franche de cavalerie”. Sei giorni dopo si fuse con una seconda compagnia franca per formare il 1° reggimento di cavalleria. Questo fu ribattezzato 1° Reggimento Cacciatori di Cavalli il 23 ottobre. Tre squadroni con altri 4 del 1° Reggimento Lancieri formarono la brigata di cavalleria dell'Esercito della Schelda durante la Campagna dei Dieci Giorni.
