La Biblioteca di Stato di Glarona è la biblioteca cantonale del Canton Glarona, ossia una biblioteca di studio e di formazione e funziona anche come biblioteca pubblica generale con collezioni ad accesso libero. Il focus della collezione è sulla letteratura glaronese.
Nel 1761 fu fondata a Glarona la prima biblioteca per la popolazione protestante del cantone. Nel 1858 fu aperta una biblioteca accessibile a tutte le persone nel Canton Glarona. Dopo il devastante incendio del 1861, che ridusse in macerie due terzi della città, la biblioteca del palazzo di giustizia fu ricostruita. Nel 1969, nell'ambito della ristrutturazione della biblioteca, le pile furono ampliate e fu inaugurata una nuova sala di lettura. Nel 1993, la biblioteca si trasferì nell'edificio dell'ex scuola secondaria cittadina, dove si trova ancora oggi.
