Il sobborgo di Oberthal è il sobborgo che dà il nome al comune di Oberthal nel Landkreis di St. Wendel nel Saarland e forma un proprio distretto comunale.
Il sobborgo di Oberthal è nato dai precedenti villaggi autonomi di Imweiler, Osenbach e Linden. Con il decreto del 22 settembre 1823, il 1° ottobre 1823 è stato dichiarato ufficialmente il nome "Oberthal". Il luogo apparteneva circa dal 1200 al 1766 al ducato di Lorena, che nel 1766 passò al regno di Francia per via di successione. Con il contratto del 15 novembre 1786, il regno di Francia cedette questa area al ducato di Palatinato-Zweibrücken. Durante il dominio straniero francese, Oberthal formò una propria mappa.
