Wald-Michelbach nel Odenwald è con una superficie di oltre 74 km² il comune più grande per area nel distretto di Bergstraße in Assia meridionale, ancora prima della città di Lampertheim.
Wald-Michelbach si trova nel centro dello sviluppo geologico dell'Odenwald, al punto di incrocio tra il nord → Böllsteiner-Gneis-Odenwald, il ovest → Trommgranito e l'est → Buntsandstein-Odenwald. Queste formazioni sono state causate da grandi movimenti della crosta terrestre in due diverse ere geologiche e da un'erosione e sedimentazione intermedia.
