Il Osterbach, situato nel distretto di Kassel nella Hesse settentrionale, è un affluente di sinistra e quindi nord del Fulda lungo 7,2 km.
Il Osterbach ha origine nella parte meridionale del Reinhardswald. La sua sorgente si trova sul versante occidentale del Gahrenberg, o sul versante sud-est del Junkernkopf. Si trova poco a sud-ovest di un biforcazione a 398,5 m s.l.m. del ampio sentiero forestale Alte Kohlenstraße, che collega il parcheggio Roter Stock situato a ovest lungo la strada statale 3232 con il Gahrenberg a est, nascosta nella foresta a circa 390 m di altitudine.
