La stazione della metropolitana Berliner Platz è una stazione sotterranea della città di Essen situata nella parte nord-ovest del centro di Essen. È una delle tre stazioni di interscambio tra la metropolitana di Essen e il tram di Essen.
La stazione sotterranea di Berliner Platz è stata inaugurata il 27 novembre 1981 sulla linea Nord-Sud, in occasione dell'estensione della linea U18 esistente e dell'apertura della U17 sulla tratta da allora Wiener Platz all'Università. Poco meno di dieci anni dopo, il tunnel della diramazione Est-Ovest del tram è stato aperto da Viehofer Platz. Questa tratta è stata utilizzata, nell'ambito di un progetto sperimentale, anche da autobus a trazione su binari aerea, che a causa delle banchine centrali hanno ricevuto porte aggiuntive sul lato sinistro. Tuttavia, questi viaggi in tunnel erano soggetti a guasti, tanto che il servizio degli autobus a trazione su binari è stato interrotto più volte, compromettendo anche il servizio del tram. Pertanto, la allora Essener Verkehrs-AG ha interrotto il servizio di tunnel delle linee CityExpress 45 e 47 a partire dal 21 settembre 1995, la dismissione ufficiale è avvenuta il 24 settembre 1995.
