La riserva naturale (NSG) Recker Moor ha una superficie di 344 ha ed è un residuo dell'ex Vinter Moor che copriva 5000 ha. Il corpo dello svuotato è ancora oggi di 150 ha ed è circondato da una zona di protezione di prati umidi.
Amplie misure di rifuturo hanno creato le condizioni per lo sviluppo di situazioni tipiche delle torbiere alte. Le condizioni di vita per animali e piante, adattati a questo habitat, vengono continuamente migliorate attraverso ulteriori misure. Queste comprendono l'eliminazione della vegetazione legnosa e l'ottimizzazione delle superfici di pascolo utilizzate.
Per rendere l'area fruibile per gli amanti della natura, sono state costruite una seconda torre di avvistamento, pannelli informativi, un parcheggio e un sentiero attraverso un argine di torba.
