Alcaucín è un comune andaluso della provincia di Malaga, confinante con la provincia di Granada. Per strada si trova a 54 chilometri da Malaga, il capoluogo provinciale, e a 504 km da Madrid, capitale statale. Con una popolazione di 2366 abitanti, il villaggio di Alcaucín si estende per le terre a nord dell'Axarquía, tra la sierra di Tejeda e il rilievo del corridoio di Periana, tra il suggestivo "Boquete di Zafarraya" e i monti dell'Axarquía. I suoi abitanti sono denominati "alcaucineños" e hanno il soprannome di "tiznaos".
