Il famoso château appartenente al marchese de Sade si trova a Lacoste. Nel 1771, il marchese fuggì da Parigi per sfuggire agli scandali creati dalla sua scrittura erotica e dal suo comportamento stravagante (troppo liberale per l'epoca).
Arrivò a Lacoste e cercò rifugio nel château che apparteneva a suo nonno. Questo enorme château dell'undicesimo secolo, in parte in rovina, apparteneva a un professore che lo sta restaurando da più di 30 anni. Oggi il château appartiene a M. Pierre Cardin, il famoso stilista designer.
