Il faro Richard ospita un museo che racconta la sua singolare storia (quella dell'albero e dei due fari Richard), ma si occupa anche del segnalamento marittimo e della navigazione nell'estuario della Gironda, nonché delle attività di pesca e di allevamento di ostriche durante il XIX secolo.
Dalla cima della torre si può ammirare un panorama unico a 360 gradi dell'estuario e della costa della Charente da un lato e dei polder olandesi (terre prosciugate a partire dal XVII secolo, oggi terreni agricoli e pascoli) sulla riva sinistra.
Una barca da pesca didattica può essere visitata (a seconda della stagione) e prenotata (a seconda delle condizioni).
