Il museo fu originariamente creato da Jean Troussel (1861-1944), originario di Villefranche-du-Périgord, che si propose di conservare metodicamente gli utensili abbandonati a causa degli sviluppi tecnici e di classificare accuratamente le pietre (del Paleolitico e del Neolitico) rinvenute nella zona. Nel corso degli anni, le collezioni sono state regolarmente integrate dalla figlia Hélène Anstett.
Il museo rappresenta le varie attività della campagna del Périgord nel XIX secolo: le attività domestiche (cucinare, cucire, lavare) con alcuni oggetti rari (saliera, tino in ghisa); i mezzi di riscaldamento (chaufferettes) e di illuminazione (lampade a caleil, lampade a piccione, lanterne)
Visita gratuita ogni martedì alle 16.00 e ogni giovedì dalle 15.00 alle 17.00 in luglio e agosto
