Il Castello di York nella città di York, in Inghilterra, è un complesso fortificato comprendente, nel giro di nove secoli, un susseguirsi di castelli, prigioni e corti legislative oltre ad altre costruzioni nella parte sud del fiume Foss. La prigione, attualmente in rovina, è l'unica parte genuina sopravvissuta del castello medievale normanno ed è comunemente indicata col nome di Clifford's Tower. Costruito originariamente per ordine di Guglielmo il Conquistatore per dominare l'ex città vichinga di York, il castello conobbe una storia particolarmente tumultuosa subendo diverse fortificazioni e difese d'acqua. Una rovinosa esplosione nel 1684 rese inutilizzabile la struttura per difesa militare, ma comunque il castello di York continuò ad essere utilizzato come prigione sino al 1929.
