Macugnaga è un comune italiano sparso di 526 abitanti della provincia del Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in Piemonte, situato ai piedi della maestosa parete est del Monte Rosa, la più alta delle Alpi, nel versante piemontese del massiccio. Il suo territorio raggiunge il punto più alto con il picco della Grenzgipfel , risultando il comune con la maggiore altitudine dell'intera regione.
