Il centro storico è posto alle falde del Monte Siserno , su una collina a 365 metri s.l.m. . Il territorio comunale si presenta per un terzo collinoso e per due terzi montagnoso. Tra le cime che si elevano, sono presenti il Colle Calvello e il Monte Ravola Scrima. Il terreno è costituito in prevalenza da rocce calcaree e argille oltre a rocce magmatiche . Non ci sono corsi d'acqua in superficie a causa della natura carsica del terreno, sono presenti invece diversi corsi sotterranei che alimentano sorgenti che sgorgano in più punti del territorio.
