Verbania è un comune sparso italiano sulla sponda occidentale del Lago Maggiore di 29 952 abitanti, capoluogo della provincia del Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, in Piemonte, ed è il centro più popoloso di tutto il bacino del Lago Maggiore.
Il comune nacque il 4 aprile 1939 con il Regio decreto n. 702, dall'unione dei comuni di Intra e Pallanza, e divenne capoluogo di provincia nel 1992. Il nome Verbania è un calco del nome latino del Lago Maggiore, Verbanus Lacus. Ha assunto titolo di città a partire dal 2007; precedentemente, sia Intra che Pallanza erano già state insignite di tale titolo.
