Manoppello è un comune italiano di 6 759 abitanti in provincia di Pescara in Abruzzo. Faceva parte della comunità Montana della Majella e del Morrone. Nel territorio è presente il santuario che custodisce la reliquia religiosa del Volto Santo.
L'origine del nome del paese deriva forse dal "manoppio", cioè la quantità di grano che può essere contenuta tra le braccia, cioè il covone, simbolo che ritroviamo nello stemma del paese.
Tutto ciò conferma l'origine del nome Manoppello che si deve dall'unione delle parole latine manus e plere cioè "mano piena".
Il covone di grano indica la fertilità della terra, che in epoche passate, soprattutto in epoca romana, garantiva prosperità e abbondanza di raccolti.
