Frassilongo è un comune italiano di 337 abitanti della provincia autonoma di Trento; gran parte della popolazione è di lingua e cultura mochena; il comune comprende anche, più in alto, il centro di Roveda a 1049 m.
A differenza dei toponimi minori, tutti di origine tedesca, i maggiori sono di impronta chiaramente latina: "Frassilongo" deriva probabilmente da fratta , e non da frassino come a volte riportato, e corrisponde esattamente al toponimo tedesco di Gereut , che significa "novale" . Anche il toponimo della frazione di Roveda è romanzo, da rovereda, cioè "luogo dove crescono i roveri"); il suo nome mocheno è Oachlait, "costa delle querce".
