Si trova nella bassa valle del fiume Sangro. La sua superficie, con i suoi 11.003 ettari, è la più estesa della provincia e comprende una piccola parte decentrata dal resto del territorio, un'exclave a sud del comune di Tornareccio. I promontori degradano dolcemente fino a raggiungere la vasta piana alluvionale del Sangro.
