Porta Fiorentina era così chiamata perché si apriva sulla strada per Firenze. Sebbene di origine medievale, mostra notevoli modifiche apportate nel XVI secolo per riparare i danni subiti durante l'assedio della città nel 1530.

Il parcheggio Porta Fiorentina in Piazza Caduti nei Lager Nazisti è proprio di fronte a Porta Fiorentina: è a pagamento e solo per le auto. Il parcheggio, con un numero di posti molto limitato, è molto facilmente accessibile e si trova a 10 metri da Porta Fiorentina: l'ingresso al centro storico.
