La zona del monte, da dove si godono bellissimi panorami sulla costa agrigentina , ha anche una rilevanza naturalistica legata alla flora e alla fauna.
Il monte ha carattere calcareo ed è colonizzato da vegetazione prevalentemente rocciosa, mentre sulla sommità nei pressi del Santuario si è insediata una pineta.
Nel territorio del comune di Sciacca , città delle terme, sul Monte San Calogero , o Monte Kronio, la riserva si presenta come un sistema di grotte naturali sotterranee: Stufe di S. Calogero, Grotta di Lebbroso, Grotta di Mastro, Grotta Cucchiara e Grotta Gallo.
