Aardenburg, nata come una fondazione romano-imperiale, esiste da quasi duemila anni. C'era un grande forte per mille soldati con nelle immediate vicinanze un villaggio, dove vivevano fornai, macellai e commercianti insieme alle famiglie dei soldati. Nel Medioevo Aardenburg era una robusta, vivace e chiassosa città portuale fiamminga. Nell'immagine della spiaggia: affreschi con scene storiche, una pietra miliare, mosaici, eleganti insegne... Lungo il cammino incontrerete senza dubbio una maquette del forte romano e l'edificio della porta romana che si trova nello stesso luogo in cui fu costruito quasi duemila anni fa. Notevole è anche il percorso poetico con 20 poesie latine di famosi autori romani (con traduzione olandese).
