All'inizio del XIX secolo si pose fine all'usanza di seppellire i morti presso la chiesa. L'allora sindaco di Ermelo, C.L. Vitringa, vendette un piccolo pezzo di terra al comune che fu utilizzato come cimitero dal 1829: 'De Kruiskamp'. Nel 1925 il cimitero fu ufficialmente chiuso. Nel 1996 il cimitero è stato inserito nell'elenco dei monumenti comunali, il giardino è stato ristrutturato e alcune tombe sono state rinnovate.
