Se passi sotto il portico di Meerhuizenstraat, potrebbe sorgere in te la sensazione che qualcosa di strano stia accadendo. È vero: questo edificio è stato eretto all'inizio del 21° secolo, per sostituire alcuni immobili in cattive condizioni. L'architetto Liesbeth van der Pol ha progettato 105 abitazioni per questo angolo della città, che sono un omaggio alla Scuola di Amsterdam. È un bel complesso con mattoni di vari colori, logge rotonde e allo stesso tempo angolari e ingegnose aperture. L'insieme si raccorda bene con l'ex Berlageschool, sul lato nord della piazza, ora un centro diurno per persone con disabilità intellettive, Philadelphia. Particolari sono anche i due spazi commerciali supersonici sulla Uithoornstraat.
