Il Pentagono è l'edificio sede del quartier generale del Dipartimento della difesa degli Stati Uniti d'America.
Per metonimia, nel linguaggio comune e giornalistico, con il termine "Pentagono" si intende spesso il Dipartimento della Difesa piuttosto che l'edificio in sé. A differenza di quasi tutti gli uffici federali, che si trovano nell'abitato di Washington, il Pentagono si trova immediatamente fuori dai confini della Capitale statunitense, nella contea di Arlington, in Virginia, sulla riva destra del fiume Potomac.
