Bij het inluiden van de Gentse Feesten in 1914 barstte de grote klok van het Belfort. Ze werd toen de Triomfante genoemd. Dat ding was toen bijna 2 & 1/2 eeuwen oud (gegoten in 1670 door de bekende klokkengieter Hemony).
Het jaar daarop goot Hemony drie grote luidklokken, waarvan de grootste Triomfante genoemd werd. Sinds 1913 wordt die klok elektrisch aangedreven en ze barstte bij het inluiden van de Gentse Feesten in 1914.
Ze werd op rust gesteld aan de voet van het belfort. In 1948 werd een nieuwe klokke Roeland ingehuldigd.
Eind 2003 onderging de Triomfante een grondige restauratie, met de bedoeling ze terug in de toren te plaatsen en te integreren in de Hemonybeiaard.
De huidige luidklok Roeland uit 1948 belandde dan op het Emile Braunplein.
