Julien Lahaut was een Communistisch syndicalist die in 1950 door een moordcommando in zijn huis in Seraing werd vermoord. Het is naast de moord op André Cools, de enigste politieke moord in België. Als veertienjarige begint Julien Lahaut zijn loopbaan in de fabriek van Cockerill. Vandaag neemt hij het tegen zijn toenmalige werkgever op in de strijd om de titel van 'Grootste Belg'. Ook Lahauts vader werkt bij Cockerill en is er syndicalist, maar wordt ontslagen. Maar de 'rode' appel valt niet ver van de boom, want zoon Lahaut neemt al gauw deel aan stakingen en andere vakbondsacties. Op zijn arbeidskaart krijgt hij het etiket 'agitator' opgeplakt. Ook hij wordt meerdere malen ontslagen, maar klimt snel op binnen de vakbond. Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog gaat hij als vrijwilliger naar het Russische front, waar hij zich het communistische gedachtegoed eigen maakt. Bij zijn terugkeer probeert hij zijn idealen te realiseren via de Belgische Kommunistische Partij, waarvoor hij vanaf 1932 in het parlement zetelt. In 1950 wordt hij vermoord.
