De Katholieke Universiteit Leuven of KU Leuven is een katholieke universiteit, opgericht in 1834, waarvan de hoofdcampus gevestigd is in de Belgische stad Leuven. De instelling biedt ook opleidingen aan op haar campussen in Brussel, Antwerpen, Gent, Kortrijk, Brugge, Geel, Diepenbeek, Sint-Katelijne-Waver en Aalst. Het is met 21.338 personeelsleden en 58.987 studenten niet alleen de grootste Nederlandstalige universiteit, maar ook de grootste universiteit van de Lage Landen.Volgens het Times Higher Education Supplement van The Times is de KU Leuven in 2022 de hoogstscorende Belgische en de hoogstscorende Nederlandstalige universiteit. Wereldwijd staat de KU Leuven 42ste op basis van scores en in de groep 51-60 gerangschikt op basis van reputatie.
