Nieuwerkerken is een dorp in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen en een deelgemeente van de stad Aalst. Nieuwerkerken heeft een oppervlakte van 7,28 km² en telde in 2007 5727 inwoners. De plaats ligt in de Denderstreek.
Nieuwerkerken bestaat uit verschillende wijken. Deze zijn: Bremt, Dries, Edixvelde, Laar, Maal, Pijpenbeek, Restert en Zurendries. Edixvelde bevindt zich op de grens van Nieuwerkerken met Erpe en Mere, beide deelgemeenten van Erpe-Mere.
