Lede is het stamdorp van de familie Goedertier, waar Arsene Goedertier deel van uitmaakt. Hij had hier eigendommen, klanten en gaf hier tekenles voor 1910, Arsene is de hoofdverdachte in de diefstal van de Rechtvaardige Rechters. Lede was ook de woonplaats van een andere verdachte in het dossier de Rechtvaardige Rechters: priester-dichter Gery Helderenberg of officieel gekend als Hubert Buyle.
