De hoeve die vandaag bewaard is, is een heropbouw van na de Eerste Wereldoorlog, ontworpen door architect Raison. De inrijpoort is het uithangbord van wat vandaag een vakantiehoeve geworden is. Een jaarlijkse traditie in de schuur was het optreden van Willem Vermandere, West-vlaanderens bekendste kleinkunstzanger.
Deze hoeve heeft een zeer oud verleden. Een zekere Jonkvrouw Gela liet hier rond 1200 een Cisterciënzerabdij oprichten op grafelijke grond, waarschijnlijk ontving ze die rechtstreeks van de graaf als schenking.
De hoeve in Sint-Pieterskapelle werd algauw Spermaliehof genoemd, naar het oude moederklooster te Sijsele. Er is hier dus sprake van de verplaatsing van een toponiem, over een afstand van wel 30 km.
