Deze trap die de hemel lijkt uit te dagen, telt 374 treden op een hoogteverschil van 67 meter. Wanneer men er recht tegenaan kijkt, lijkt het wel een muur met zijn helling van 30%. Liefhebbers van extreme sporten, mountainbikers en trailers hebben er hun favoriet speelterrein van gemaakt. De trap werd aangelegd in de 19de eeuw met de bedoeling het garnizoen dat gelegerd was in de Citadel, snel te laten afdalen naar het stadscentrum wanneer de stad werd aangevallen. Maar hij werd destijds vooral gebruikt door de soldaten om sneller de cafés en andere cabarets te bereiken.
