In 1994 bestond het dorpje Olen 1000 jaar. Ter gelegenheid daarvan verscheen het Suskje en Wiske verhaal De pottenproever in een speciale vorm. In de pagina's met extra informatie is terug te vinden dat de pot met de drie oren, waar het verhaal om draait, nog steeds bestaat in Olen: er zijn er zelfs drie! Er wordt ook verteld dat het verschijnsel niet onbekend is, er scheen zelfs een wet te zien die het verplicht stelde om bier te tappen in een pot met drie oren!
