Door haar ligging aan het natuurgebied de ‘Kalkense Meersen’ en haar pittoreske maar levendige dorpsplein is het kleine dorpje Schellebelle (gemeente Wichelen) een kleine toeristische trekpleister.
In 2005 werd Schellebelle verkozen tot mooiste dorpsnaam van Vlaanderen. Een volksetymologische verklaring veronderstelt dat de dorpsnaam afkomstig is van de schel-klinkende bel waarmee men de veerboot kon roepen, terwijl een andere veelgehoorde verklaring luidt dat men de bocht in de Schelde vanaf Franse boten quelle belle noemde.
Enkele bezienswaardigheden zijn de Sint-Jan Onthoofdingkerk, het gemeentehuis en het Kot, een klein gebouwtje in het centrum, oorspronkelijk een roephuisje, later een kleine gevangenisruimte. Schellebelle is ook de thuis van Lingerie Van de Velde.
