Het arrondissement heeft een oppervlakte van 1000,31 km² en telde 1.051.301 inwoners op 1 januari 2019.Het gerechtelijk arrondissement Antwerpen is tevens het kiesarrondissement bij de provincieraadsverkiezingen.
