Wij vervolgen onze weg door het park en lopen langs de vijver en een vijf meter hoge replica van Michelangelo’s David, gemaakt voor de Wereldexpo in Brussel van 1910. Voor we aan kasteel Den Brandt komen, lopen we via trapjes naar de pittoreske Villa La Chapelle en de pluktuin van de stad Antwerpen.
“Dit was oorspronkelijk de hovenierswoning van kasteel Den Brandt. De familie Kreglinger liet ze verbouwen tot cottage volgens een ontwerp van architect Jozef Hertogs. In 1962 werd de villa verkocht aan de stad, die het in concessie gaf. Momenteel wordt het verhuurd aan een bedrijf.”
