De Kleine Aa slingert zich door Kalmthout en Essen. Door tal van zijopen groeit hij snel aan tot een respectabele beek. Zijn idyllische ligging in het open weide landschap is een fikse wandeling wel waard.
De Kleine Aa wordt beheerd door de provincie Antwerpen. De laatste jaren werd veel ingevesteerd in de Vallei.
