World Archery , is de internationale, overkoepelende organisatie voor het boogschieten. Er zijn meer dan 150 nationale bonden bij aangesloten, waaronder de Nederlandse Handboog Bond maar ook de Koninklijke Belgische Federatie voor Handboogschieten . World Archery is als organisatie erkend door het Internationaal Olympisch Comité. Het hoofdkantoor is gevestigd in Lausanne.
World Archery werd, onder de naam Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc , opgericht in Lviv, Oekraïne op 4 september 1931 door de landen Frankrijk, Hongarije, Italië, Polen, Tsjecho-Slowakije, de Verenigde Staten en Zweden. Doel van de organisatie was reguliere kampioenschappen te starten en het boogschieten terug te krijgen op de Olympische Spelen . Pas in 1972 werd boogschieten, mede dankzij de FITA, geherintroduceerd op de Zomerspelen.
