De club werd in 1911 opgericht als SK Viktoria Pilsen. In 1931 speelde de club voor de eerste keer in de Tsjecho-Slowaakse hoogste klasse. Twee jaar later eindigde de club op de derde plaats, de hoogste positie ooit. In 1938 degradeerde de club. De club ging nog enkele keren op een neer tussen de tweede en de eerste klasse.
De naam werd intussen veranderd in Skoda Plzeň . In seizoen 1970/71 werd de bekerfinale verloren van Spartak Trnava. Omdat die club ook kampioen werd, mocht Skoda deelnemen aan de Europacup II. In de eerste ronde werd thuis gewonnen van Bayern München , maar in de terugwedstrijd werd het 6-1 voor Bayern. In 1980 volgde een nieuwe degradatie en in de jaren 80 ging de club nog eens op en neer.
