Anklam is een kleine stad in de Duitse deelstaat Mecklenburg-Voor-Pommeren. Anklam telt 12.718 inwoners. De stad ligt aan de rivier de Peene.
Anklam ligt in het historische Pommeren. Het werd in de dertiende eeuw gesticht en nog in diezelfde eeuw kreeg het stadsrechten en trad het toe tot de Hanze . In de Dertigjarige Oorlog kwam de stad na een langdurige strijd in Zweedse handen en vanaf 1720 tot 1815 was de stad gedeeld tussen Pruisen en Zweden, waarbij de Peene de grens vormde. Vanaf 1815 behoorde Anklam tot Pruisen, dat later opging in Duitsland. Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog, waarin de stad grote schade leed, behoorde Anklam tot de DDR.
