Puimichel is een gemeente in het Franse departement Alpes-de-Haute-Provence en telt 237 inwoners . De plaats maakt deel uit van het arrondissement Digne-les-Bains.
Het dorpje op een heuvel heeft 1 café annex kruidnierswinkeltje.
Puimichel heeft een eigen sterrenwacht. Eind jaren 70 is de Vlaamse amateur-astronoom Dany Cardoen samen met zijn vrouw Arlette Steenmans vanuit Mechelen naar Puimichel getrokken om daar een centrum voor amateur astronomen neer te zetten. Dit heeft uiteindelijk geleid tot de bouw van een observatorium met een 1 meter telescoop, een van de grootste van Europa.
Arlette en Danny zijn inmiddels gescheiden geweest en terug getrouwd. Arlette woont nog steeds in Puimichel en geeft daar schildercursussen. Danny woont ook in Puimichel en slijpt spiegels voor optische instrumenten.
