Op de hoogten van Thionville domineert de huidige wijk Guentrange, een voormalig dorp. De wijnpers herinnert aan de wijnbouw en is vermengd met de huizen van moderne architecten. Het getuigt van een belangrijke economische en sociale realiteit. Hij valt op door zijn enorme balken en zijn nauwgezette mechanisme. 9,60 meter lang en 4 meter hoog, een reus! De eerste bekende vermelding van een wijnpers dateert van 1468, tijdens de Bourgondische periode. Daarna werd het toevertrouwd aan de burgers en wijnbouwers van Thionville. Deze pers, bekend als schommelpers, maakt gebruik van een geoefend systeem dat teruggaat tot de Romeinse tijd. Bewijs van oude vindingrijkheid! Het frame zal evenveel indruk op u maken als het uitzicht dat het biedt.
