Ontworpen in de 19e eeuw als decor voor het antieke theater, getuigt het van de geschiedenis en de stedelijke ontwikkeling van de stad.
Bebost met vaak exotische soorten, bevolkt met beelden van mythologische of herdenkingsinspiratie, nodigen de verspreide banken uit tot rust en ontsnapping. Deze attracties maken het tot een zeer gewaardeerde plaats van vermaak en ontmoetingen.
Met zijn kleine glijbaan, tourniquet en andere kinderspelen is een deel van de tuin ook gewijd aan de kleintjes.
