Het dorp werd voor het eerst vermeld in 791 onder de naam Hetannesloh en werd Hettenslah genoemd in de 15e eeuw. In de 15e eeuw werd het dorp opgeheven en werden de grenzen samengevoegd met die van Weckolsheim. Aan het einde van de 18e eeuw werd de plaats opnieuw bewoond. In 1824 werd het dorp een onafhankelijke gemeente.
