Volgens de overlevering kwam het uit het Château de Chanac, de verdwenen kapel van de bisschoppen van Mende. Het wapen van Monseigneur Cruzy de Marcillac (bisschop tussen 1628 en 1659) op het tabernakel maakt hem zeker tot de opdrachtgever.
De rest van het hoogaltaar dateert waarschijnlijk uit de 18e eeuw.

Gesneden en verguld hout. Cartouche met het Heilig Hart van Christus.
19e eeuw: Heilig Hart van Maria aan weerszijden van het lam.
