Cockermouth is een civil parish in het bestuurlijke gebied Allerdale, in het Engelse graafschap Cumbria met 8761 inwoners. De plaats is zo genoemd omdat de rivier Cocker er samenvloeit met de Derwent.
Cockermouth, dat historisch gezien deel uitmaakte van Cumberland, ligt aan de noordwestelijke rand, net buiten het Lake District. Een groot deel van de architectonische kern van de stad is onveranderd gebleven sinds het middeleeuwse stratenpatroon in de 18e en 19e eeuw werd opgevuld. Het vernieuwde marktplein is nu een centraal historisch punt in de stad, en weerspiegelt gebeurtenissen uit de 800-jarige geschiedenis.
