Mestia is een stad in het noorden van Georgië en tevens de hoofdstad van het gelijknamige district. Het ligt gesitueerd in de regio Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, op een hoogte van 1500 m in het Kaukasusgebergte. De stad ligt zo'n 128 km ten noordoosten van de stad Zoegdidi en telt 132 kleine dorpen rond zich, die behoren tot de centrumstad Mestia. In de stad zelf wonen 1973 inwoners, in het hele gebied 9316 .
Mestia maakt deel uit en was de oude hoofdstad van de historische provincie Svanetië en de stad en omliggende dorpen worden nog bewoond door een grote groep Svaneten.
