Het Palazzo Vecchio werd gebruikt voor een beroemde scène in de film Hannibal. Hannibal is een 2001 Amerikaanse misdaad thriller film geregisseerd door Ridley Scott, een bewerking van de roman van de zelfde naam van Thomas Harris. Het is het vervolg op de 1991 Academy Award-winnende film The Silence of the Lambs, waarin Anthony Hopkins terug keert naar zijn rol als de iconische seriemoordenaar Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal Lecter lokt hoofdinspecteur Rinaldo Pazzi in een geïsoleerde kamer van het Palazzo Vecchio, bindt hem vast, snijdt zijn ingewanden open en hangt hem uit het raam van het Palazzo Vecchio.
