Catanzaro is de hoofdstad van de Italiaanse regio Calabrië en van de gelijknamige provincie Catanzaro. In 2001 had de stad 95.251 inwoners.
De stad is aan het begin van de 10e eeuw gesticht, toen de regio nog deel uitmaakte van het Byzantijnse Rijk.
