Aosta is een Italiaanse gemeente, gelegen in de regio Valle d'Aosta. In 2006 had het 34.672 inwoners. Het grenst aan de gemeenten Charvensod, Gignod, Gressan, Pollein, Roisan, Saint-Christophe en Sarre.
Het ligt aan de Italiaanse kant van de Mont Blanc-tunnel, op de samenvloeiing van de rivieren Buthier en Dora Baltea. De vallei grenst aan enkele van de hoogste bergen van Europa, waaronder de Cervino of Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa en de Gran Paradiso.
