Bant is gelegen aan de snelweg A6, tussen de plaatsen Emmeloord en Lemmer. De dorpskern ligt op ongeveer vijf kilometer van het Kuinderbos. Op oude kaarten is te zien dat de locatie van Bant in oorsprong was gepland op de kavel tussen de Creilervaart en de Noorderringweg op het zogeheten Kavel Tiesingha. Waarom hiervan is afgeweken is niet bekend. Op deze kavel heeft het voormalige arbeiderskamp Westvaart gelegen, genoemd naar het kanaal dat naar het westen liep, de huidige Creilervaart. Hier ligt bij de oude grasdrogerij ook nog een zwaaikom voor de scheepvaart.
